Around 350 players participated in State Level School Kho Kho championship held in SVJCT Sports Academy between 12th to 14th November. 16 teams from Kolhapur, Mumbai, Sambhaji Nagar, Latur, Pune, Amravati and Nagpur participated in this Under 14 kho kho event.

Kolhapur zone dominated the event. Rajendra Vidyalaya, Khandala won the Under 14 Boys championship and Adarsh Prarthamik Ashram school, Vita won Under 14 Girls championship. Swaraj Prakash Utekar, Satara and Shravani Ramhari Tamkhede, Sangli were declared the best all rounders in the tournament. The Under 14 Boys final was played between Kolhapur and Latur zone. It was a very closed fought game but Kolhapur zone won it on the back of their excellent defense skills. Under 14 Girls final between Kolhapur and Sambhaji Nagar zone was a one sided game where Kolhapur defeated their opponents easily.

Chhatrapati Award winner Aishwarya Sawant and Apeksha Sutar from Ratnagiri district inaugurated the Tournament. Aiswarya Sawant cherished the memories of 1st Dervan Youth Games that were held 10 years back. Aishwarya was a part of the team that played here in the First Dervan Youth games. Aishwarya and Apeksha both are now working as a class 2 officers in the Government sector because of Kho Kho. All players should take the inspiration from their example and should work hard to achieve such success.

The tournament was held at SVJCT Sports Academy in well equipped indoor stadium, first such stadium in the country. Chhatrapati Awardee Mr. Narendra Kundar was surprised to see the huge indoor Kho Kho stadium. He expressed his gratitude towards Shri Vithalrao Joshi Charities Trust for building such a huge indoor stadium for the local players. He mentioned that he has never seen such a well equipped indoor stadium in the entire country.
